Ensuring the success of your acquisitions: understanding it all, from determining target companies to post-acquisition integration (Paris 17th arrondissement).
Acquisitions drive growth by enabling companies to achieve critical size and/or develop a significant market position. When successful, acquisitions bring considerable added value.
However, statistics show that between 50% and 70% of acquisitions do not live up to buyers’ expectations for seven main reasons:
- The buyer overestimated the strategic fit of the target
- The buyer underestimated the competition during the acquisition process
- The acquisition premium was too high
- The cultural differences between the two companies were underestimated
- The acquired company had not achieved the necessary synergies
- The integration of the company’s day-to-day operations was badly planned
- The integration plans were not correctly implemented
- Synergies were over estimated
Acquisitions-based expansion is a very exciting project for a company, but great care must be taken at all stages of the process if it is to be a success.
Our coaching session entitled “The keys to successful acquisitions” gives you the tools to enhance your external growth transactions by drawing attention to the main pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Financing growth: how to make the right choices (Paris 17th arrondissement).
All businesses dream of growth, but growth needs to be financed.
A business can finance its growth by increasing its equity, adding debt (notably through loans), outsourcing its debt and receivables or requesting state support in the form of subsidies.
The choice of financing method depends on the company’s stage of development, the shareholders’ financial priorities, the growth opportunities, and the company’s stock market or risk capital culture.
Although capital increases can be advantageous during periods of strong growth or technological change, self-financing and borrowing often correspond to a desire to keep control of the company’s capital. But self-financing limits the company’s share capital and, as such, its borrowing capacity, because banks lend in accordance with companies’ equity levels. Banks also prefer to finance tangible investments and are still reluctant to commit to anything intangible.
The ideal approach for a business is to have a range of financing methods. Successful companies enhance their financing track by seeking the maximum amount of financing at each key stage of their growth.
Our “How to finance your growth” coaching session gives you the tools to optimise your growth financing by explaining the benefits and risks of each method and the order in which these are applied.
Training on business strategy in times of crisis: increasing resilience (Paris 17th arrondissement).
As already shown during the 2008 crisis, slowdowns can provide businesses with growth opportunities and help them outpace the competition.
In difficult times, most businesses focus solely on survival, retaining only essential expenditure and waiting for things to improve.
The companies that best weathered the storm of the last economic slowdown were those that saw it as a chance to re-examine their strategy, identify the most promising market opportunities and actively seek ways to pursue change.
Learning about business strategy helps companies to increase their resilience, enhance their chances of success and craft a more robust business.
Comco Consulting offers results-oriented strategy training to help businesses get through the current crisis successfully. For more information, please contact us at contact@comco-consulting.com
All you need to know about business analysis: the keys to financial and economic analysis for SMEs (Paris 17th arrondissement).
Behind the apparent difficulty of interpreting financial data lies a perfectly understandable economic reality.
Critically reviewing a company’s accounting and financial information and analysing its business and market allows objective measurement of its financial and economic performance (profitability, relevance of management choices, etc.), solvency (potential risk for third parties, ability to meet its obligations, etc.) and assets.
Financial analysis also allows company directors and executives to measure their own performance, compare it against that of their competitors and potentially even put corrective measures in place.
It also allows them to measure the solvency of clients (direct financial interest) and suppliers (strategic interest) by analysing their own balance sheets.
Lastly, financial analysis gives SME owners the tools to understand their bank manager’s recommendations.
Comco Consulting offers training in financial and economic business analysis that is accessible to all, regardless of financial knowledge level. For more information, please contact us at contact@comco-consulting.com
Everything you need to know about corporate finance: Paris-based training course
Corporate finance can seem scary or onerous when one is not familiar with it. The vocabulary can be off-putting and is not always easy to understand at first glance, especially as many of the acronyms derive from English.
The importance of grasping basic financial concepts should not be understated however, as finance remains key to understanding the world around us. It also contributes significantly to improving living conditions by optimising peoples’ choices.
It is a discipline that is based, quite simply, on good sense.
Finance involves analysing all the major economic decisions taken by organisations (businesses, non-profits, public bodies, etc.) or society in general from an economic (i.e., cash) point of view, with a view to ensuring the best use of resources and enhancing the well-being of all relevant stakeholders.
It ensures that all decisions create value and generate wealth, and can be used by anyone in both the professional and personal spheres.

All you need to know about LBOs: Paris-based training course
Leveraged buy-outs have become increasingly popular over the past twenty years, with many companies now using them as a means to raise finance. They are notably used by investment funds for the takeover of target companies.
In a typical leveraged buy-out transaction a holding company borrows money from several sources to acquire a company, with the assets of the acquired company being used as collateral for the loans.
Comco Consulting’s LBO training provides an overview of the entire LBO process, with case studies to ensure you get hands-on experience.
